Fitness Assessment
Practicum Opportunity
Kinesiology
students who need to complete KIN 471: Practicum will be given first preference
for this opportunity. Other majors who are seeking academic credit will be considered
next, followed by other students who are seeking a volunteer opportunity.
Description
Conduct
fitness assessment in a one-on-one setting for 30 students enrolled in KIN 100:
Lifetime Fitness and Wellness. Fitness Assessment would be performed at the
beginning of the semester and again at the end of the semester. You would be responsible
for scheduling the students at a time you/the student agree upon.
The
following assessments will be performed, with specific protocol provided:
1-repitition
maximum for arm press and leg press
Curl-ups and sit ups
Sit-and-reach
BIA and waist-to-hip ratio
Curl-ups and sit ups
Sit-and-reach
BIA and waist-to-hip ratio
The possibility
exists to take on a few clients as a result of the fitness assessment who may
be interested in coming in for personal training sessions. You would be
responsible for determining interest and scheduling sessions.
Requirements
Completion of KIN 321: Principles of Health Fitness Assessment and KIN 322: Fundamental of Exercise Prescription, and a favorable recommendation from the professor(s) who taught both courses. (Equivalents of these two courses would be required for a non-Kinesiology student.)

Current
CPR/AED certification.
Nationally
recognized personal training certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA) required by
September 3, 2018.
