I attended the JMU Career Fair this morning and learned about an outdoor education organization called Calleva. Calleva runs outdoor adventure camps, and has been for the last 29 years. Whether it's day camps, or week-long high adventures, if you're interested in working with kids in the outdoors, they have a job for you!

Physical Therapy Aide employment, Norfolk, VA
My name is Lucas Johnson, I am a physical therapist in Norfolk, VA. I am searching for physical therapy aides for our outpatient/sports medicine clinic. One of my recent aides and JMU grad, Nick Craig, recommended I reach out to you. I am reaching out to see if you would be willing and able to send out an email or post our ad to current and alumni students with our job opportunity. I have attached an ad. Ideally I am looking for a student who is graduating in May and looking to go to PT school in the future (but am open to other options). Our aides have an excellent track record of getting into PT school and performing well. I appreciate your time and consideration. Please feel free to email me with any questions.
Have a great day!
Sincerely,
Lucas Johnson

Georgetown Sports Performance Internship / JMU Alum
Dear JMU Kinesiology,
My name is Torin Shanahan, and I am the Director of Football Sports Performance at Georgetown University. I am reaching out to you to inquire if any of your students might be interested in exploring an internship in sports performance. As a JMU alumni, I know I learned a lot in my time in Harrisonburg and we would love to welcome any JMU students up I-81 to spend the summer with us learning about sports performance at the division one level.
We are a staff of twelve sports performance coaches who have the privilege of working with the 27 NCAA sports we sponsor. We are looking for people who love the fast-paced and chaotic environment of sports. We want people who love helping others and are not afraid to take the initiative. Our summer internship program runs from May 29th through July 26th and can be quite flexible with scheduling. Interns will work primarily with the Georgetown Football team. Daily responsibilities will include daily set-up and breakdown of equipment and assistance in the implementation of a strength and conditioning program. Our hope is that successful interns will be ready to pass certification exams and step in to graduate assistant or part/full-time roles.
This is an unpaid internship program with no housing or meal plan compensation. Interns will be provided with official Georgetown gear. There is the opportunity to stay on with the staff for August football camp and the fall semester should the opportunity make sense for both parties. Any interested aspiring sports performance coaches should email myself, Torin Shanahan, and updated resume to ts1375@georgetown.edu in PDF format.
Please let me know if any of your students are interested or you have any follow-up questions. I am extremely excited for this next class of interns and the Summer 2024 semester. Thank you for assistance, it is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
