My name is Adam Swartz, (JMU '10) and I am the Area Director for Synergy Rehab and Wellness, an Outpatient Physical Therapy clinic in our area. While I was at JMU as a Kinesiology student I had the privilege of doing my Practicum and Internship opportunities with local physical therapy clinics as I pursued my Exercise Science degree. Now as the Director and primary hiring manager for multiple clinics, I wanted to come full circle and reach back out to the Department where it all started for me!
We have three clinics, with our Staunton clinic being one of the largest in the state. Boasting an over 7,000 square foot facility and a quarter of a million dollars worth of medical grade gym equipment including one of the states only Alter-G treadmills, we are celebrating our 13th year in the Valley. We treat primarily orthopedic injuries/surgeries and rehabilitation but also have specialties in return to sport, gait and balance, and many others. While we are always open to having students completing their Practicum/Internship (KIN481, KIN381) with any of our three facilities, we are also actively hiring part-time and full-time physical therapy technicians at all three locations. As a close partner and preferred clinical rotation site for Murphy Deming, Shenandoah University, and other PT schools in the state, we understand the importance of experience and exposure in the field and currently have a 100% acceptance rate into PT school for PT Aides who have worked in our clinics.
