My name is Jessie Purcell, and I am the Assistant Director for Fitness and Nutrition at UREC. I am reaching out to share some exciting news regarding a new initiative we are implementing within our student employee structure.
We are in the process of reorganizing our student roles and are thrilled to introduce the new position of Fitness Coach. This role is designed similarly to that of a group exercise instructor and aims to enhance our fitness programs while providing valuable experience for our students.
The Fitness Coach position will include an 8-week preparation course that covers the foundations of strength and conditioning, with a focus on instructing and programming compound movements. Students will receive both lectures and practical training, equipping them with the skills necessary to lead strength-based classes in our Group Training Room at UREC. At the end of the course, participants will have the opportunity to audition to become an official UREC Fitness Coach. This prep course is free of charge but does require some time commitment from the potential fitness coach. Please see our registration link HERE for a more detailed account of our prep course.
We believe this new position will not only enrich our fitness offerings but also provide our students with practical experience and knowledge that aligns with their academic pursuits in kinesiology, preparing them for roles as such as a personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach and small group training instructor.
We would love to be able to share this opportunity with your students and have them apply to our prep course which will officially kick off in January. Would you be able to direct me to the right person to help with sharing this information with your students?
