Natural Resources Conservation Service Internship - Paid

My office in Verona has an opening for a summer intern for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Here's an unofficial description of what they would be doing:
As a student intern, you assist the soil conservationists and technicians in their day-to-day duties. This includes going to farms and inventorying and assessing natural resources and resource concerns, talking to farmers about their resources and options they have to protect them, monitoring project and contract statuses, utilizing GIS technology to create maps and inventory resources, completing basic engineering designs, and general office administration. We typically spend at least one day in the field each week, sometimes more (especially during the summer).

Pay is dependent on how many years of school you have completed so far, and your GPA (but this is a PAID internship). If you decide to stay with the agency, experience as an intern will allow you to convert to full time/permanent at a higher pay than someone who did not complete the internship. This position is only available to students currently in school, not anyone who has graduated. An official description of the internship and other locations (including Rockingham Co, Rockbridge Co, and Culpeper Co) that have openings can be found at https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/518354100#

The application deadline for this is January 18, 2019.

My work email is emily.fugate@va.usda.gov.

Sincerely,
Emily Fugate
