Burn Boot Camp Employment, Harrisonburg

Received from a current Exercise Science student:

I wanted to pass along that my internship location is looking to hire more trainers. You can work there without a CPT if you have a KIN degree. You can also start if you’re in the process of earning your CPT. The location is Burn Boot Camp in Harrisonburg, VA. They are a group fitness facility with a personal training component.

3xf Fitness Employment, Staunton, VA

KIN Department received this message:

I wanted to reach out and ask if you knew of any recent exercise science graduates who are still local and looking for a job? We have a few openings at 3xf and are looking for a part time coach to coach group classes and/or run personal training sessions. There may even be a possibility to add a nutrition coach as well.

SU2020 Fieldwork Sites

Here is a list of where students completed fieldwork during Summer 2020. This list is extremely short as many opportunities were limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Where are you NEEDED for practicum and internship?

There are two agencies in Kinesiology which depend on students to offer outreach programming: the Morrison Bruce Center and Empowerment3.

The Morrison Bruce Center is led by Kinesiology professors Drs. Edwards and Carson Sackett. Their outreach programming promotes physical activity to girls and women. They are looking for students with a passion for helping others improve their health and well-being who want a leadership experience.

Empowerment3 is led by Kinesiology professor Dr. Tom Moran. Empowerment3 is the Center for Physical Activity and Wellness for the Underserved. Their initial focus was for individuals with disabilities and at-risk youth. Over the next several years they hope to expand to older adults, refugees, and other underserved populations. E3 has a variety of positions available including but not limited to direct interaction with clients, research assistant, and behind-the-scenes work.
