Wellness Center at VMRC - Spring 2016 internships

The Wellness Center at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC) is looking for 1 - 2 motivated students for internship for the Spring 2016 semester.

In the coming 2016 year, they will be adding on to the programs offered - more Medical Programming & more involvement with our Outpatient Therapy department, which may appeal to the clinical side of some exercise science students and pre-PT individuals.

 We are currently hiring for two full-time Fitness Specialist at the Sentara RMH Wellness Center and wanted to reach out to you in case you have any high quality December graduates that are looking for a challenging position as a fitness professional. Internship Openings:  Please note that Internships with Suffolk Parks & Recreation are un-paid and do fall under the City’s Volunteer Management Program.  Interested students are encouraged to check with their Schools Career Management Center and Academic Advisors about federal work study grants or stipend program opportunities that may be available through the school.
·         Parks & Recreation 360 Internship Experience
o   This internship position is based out of the Business Services Division of Parks & Recreation but is customized to the students career goals and the needs of the City.  Experience may include time in Athletics, Special Events, Parks, Before and After School Care, Fitness etc.  This internship experience provides the student with the ability to work in various areas of Parks & Recreation to gain a well-rounded and complete internship experience. 
·         Graphic Design & Marketing Intern
o   This internship position is designed for students who want to gain specific experience in graphic design and marketing for a Municipal Parks & Recreation Department.  The intern will assist with various aspects of marking including flyer development, writing press releases, assisting with online marketing and social media promotions etc.

KIN 100 Teaching Assistant needed for Spring 2016 semester

Undergraduate Teaching Assistant - KIN 100


May be completed for credit, depending on major requirements
Kinesiology majors will definitely be able to complete this for credit
Volunteers (no credit) will also be considered

Position Responsibilities: 

Assisting with the following fitness assessments:
1-repitition maximum for arm press and leg press
Curl-ups and sit ups
Sit-and-reach
BIA and waist-to-hip ratio
12-minute run or swim

Assisting primary instructor with physical activity instruction (ie: correcting technique)
Leading small group activities such as resistance balls, medicine balls, resistance bands, BoSU, Body Bars, indoor cycle, yoga, stretching.

Other activities depending on applicant experience/forte.


Must be available for MWF 8:00am-8:50am AND 9:05am-9:55am. Other class times available depending on applicant's schedule.

Part-time fitness/wellness employment in Harrisonburg

Wellness Instructor  - Come join our nationally recognized Wellness Team

Part-time position working 16-32 hours every two weeks; 8am – 4:30pm and 8:30am – 12noon on Saturdays. Responsibilities include leading group exercise classes, assisting senior residents with one-to-one exercise sessions, and guarding the pool areas. Qualified applicants should have a High School diploma and 2 years experience in wellness/fitness or a combination of education and experience in field.  Must have the ability to train/certify for lifeguard if not already a certified lifeguard.
