Next, complete this Google form (https://forms.gle/4vVEQJoZSCf9r7eT9) prior to attending a meeting. To expedite the process of completing the form, you should have the following files/information available to you: current resume, your five and ten year professional goals, a list of 3-5 potential sites for your practicum or internship, and the semester you are planning on completing your fieldwork.

After your site has been secured, you will submit the following form to Jana: Agency Acceptance Form (https://www.jmu.edu/kinesiology/es/practicuminternship.html). This form is turned in as a hard copy.

Finally, the deadline to submit your Agency Acceptance Form to complete Summer 2020/Fall 2020 fieldwork is Thursday, April 30. This is the last day of classes this semester. Start this process soon! Many sites fill their opportunities 6-8 weeks before the deadline.

Personal Trainer Course at UREC

I received this message:

UREC runs a Personal Trainer Prep Course that begins this Wednesday, January 22nd. This non-credit course is designed to provide applicable knowledge and practical skills in preparation for a national certification in personal training. Topics include guidelines for instructing safe, effective and purposeful exercise, essentials of the personal trainer-client relationship, anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, nutrition, adherence and coaching techniques, as well as all aspects of program design.

There are currently 4 spots left that we’d love to fill – many students get hired as UREC personal trainers after completing the course, so if you could help spread the word we would greatly appreciate it!

Food & Beverage, Salem Red Sox, Salem, VA, Internship

Here is a message from an Exercise Science alum, looking to hire an Exercise Science alum!

My name is Greg Shoukas, I was an Exercise Science grad in 2017 from JMU and now serve as the Food & Beverage Manager with the Salem Red Sox. I am in the process of hiring graduates to fill our Food & Beverage Internship positions. This is the same program that I personally went through which facilitated my growth in the professional sports realm and earned me a full time position. If you work with any students who are graduated in December that would be interested in gaining experience in the professional sports world please feel free to have them apply at the link below or they can send their resume directly to me via email.
