Fitness Specialist employment, Fishersville, VA

My name is Tanya Besmehn and I’m the Fitness Coordinator at Augusta Health Fitness, a state-of-the-art fitness, tennis, and aquatic center here in Fishersville, VA. We are located just 3 miles from Stanton, VA. I currently have positions open for Fitness Specialists. While a degree is preferred, it is not required, so students currently pursuing degrees or certifications are eligible for employment.

I wonder if you might put out the word to the students in Kinesiology at JMU, both present and past who might be in search of a great fitness opportunity. Please give them my contact information and let them know I’d love to discuss these open positions with them.

Thank you so much.

Kind regards,

Tanya Besmehn

Sports Medicine - Hampton Roads, VA

Depending on the number of hours possible to attain during this short term opportunity, it might be be suitable for KIN 381: Practicum (90 hours). If not enough hours, it would be a great volunteer opportunity:

My name is Jamie Field and I am an athletic trainer with Riverside Health System in Hampton Roads, VA. I am spreading the word about an undergraduate sports medicine internship opportunity we offer here at Riverside Sports Medicine. Although it is a brief, 2-week internship, past students have attested to the valuable information gained through the rotations with physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers. Interns get to observe orthopedic surgery, assist with sports physicals, learn some basic sports medicine skills, and more. Due to popular demand, we will be offering two sessions this summer- the first in June and the second in July/August. Exemplary interns will be invited to attend an additional week of an immersive observation experience during football preseason. Please see the attached flyer for additional information! I appreciate you sharing this information with your students.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,

Camp Employment/Practicum/Internship in MA

Hi!  My name is Cari Katz and I am the Staffing Director at Camp Taconic, a sleepaway camp in Western Massachusetts called Camp Taconic.  Our camp is looking for Coaches/Specialty Counselors for a variety of sports including baseball/softball, basketball, lacrosse, and golf for Summer 2025.  This is a great opportunity for college students who are studying Kinesiology and want to share their knowledge and love of sports with younger children ages 7-16.  Each sport/activity area is run by 2-5 coaches and is overseen and supported by an Activity Director.  Counselors will also live in a cabin with 2-3 other counselors and 8-12 campers, ages 11-15.  They eat meals with their campers and sit with them during special events.

We provide room and board, a competitive salary, travel reimbursement, and internship credit. If you are interested in joining us this summer, please apply at https://taconic.campintouch.com/ui/forms/application/staff/App.  Please email Cari Katz at cari@camptaconic.com if you have any additional questions.
