Sport Management Internship - Baltimore

Received this message today about an internship opportunity for summer 2013 in the Sports Management/Administration/Events field.
Aloha Tournaments, a Baltimore, MD based company, is the world’s largest youth lacrosse tournament company. In 2012, over 40,000 athletes, between the ages of 7-18 competed in twenty different events.  Aloha Tournaments hosts some of the largest, most well run lacrosse and field hockey events in the nation. While the competition is always top notch, emphasis is placed on providing each player, along with their family and friends, a unique experience. 
We are looking for two interns for summer 2013 who will serve as the right hand to the Tournament Director for each event from start to finish. The intern will have a wide variety of responsibilities throughout the summer from preparing to execution and the final wrap up of each event. Also, each intern will be assigned a summer long project they will be responsible for completing and presenting to Aloha Tournament’s staff at the conclusion of their internship.

Position description below:
What you’ll do as our intern:
·         The intern will be responsible for attending Aloha Tournaments events throughout the internship period; these events are held on weekends.   The intern will serve as the right hand to the Tournament Director throughout each event. At the events, the intern’s responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
-          Assist with event from start to finish
-          Checking in teams and officials
-          Selling tournament apparel
-          Score keeping (at the tournament and online)
-          Field preparation and maintenance
-          Distributing tournament information to referees
-          Checking in college coaches
-          Assist with college coaches tent
-          Set up and cleanup of each tournament

·         The intern will also assist with daily activities in the Aloha Tournaments office and warehouse.  These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-          Helping prepare necessary equipment for all events
-          Assist with communicating to registered teams as needed before, during and after events.
-          Organizing tournament apparel and supplies for individual tournaments
-          Inventory apparel before and after events
-          Bagging team prizes/tournament t-shirt for each tournament
-          Checking phone messages and distributing to individual employee
-          An ongoing project will be assigned to each intern to complete over the course of the internship.  Interns will be required to present their findings at the conclusion of the internship
What Aloha Tournaments is looking for in our intern:
·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office
·         Excellent oral, written and communication skills
·         Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and work as part of a team
·         Ability to problem solve and  develop a solution
Additional Skills and Experience:
·         Must be currently enrolled in a full time degree program
·         While knowledge of the game of lacrosse is not required, it is preferred.
·         Interns will be paid $2,500 over a three month period
·         Housing will not be provided
