Morrison-Bruce Center (MBC) Description for Practicum/Internship Opportunities

Description

The Morrison-Bruce Center for the Promotion of Physical Activity for Girls and Women (MBC) is a non-profit organization housed within the Department of Kinesiology.  The MBC is dedicated towards improving the lives of girls and women through outreach and research pertaining to physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.   The MBC is currently led by Dr. Elizabeth Edwards (Exercise Science) and Dr. Sarah Carson (Coaching Education).


Who Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for students who are self-motivated and enthusiastic about promoting health and wellness in a real-life setting.  While most of our students are Exercise Science students, we welcome interest from other majors around campus, as well.


What Do Practicum and Internship Students at the MBC Do?

Students will the opportunity to plan, organize, and implement programs for a wide range of ages and in multiple settings.  Practicum and internship students in the MBC will be responsible for leading both peer groups and program participants, with the support of graduate assistants and faculty.  Students may also have the opportunity to assist in MBC research projects.

How to apply:

Keep your eye out for an e-mail regarding our interest session in March.  Applying to the MBC includes completing an online application, followed by an interview with Drs. Edwards and Carson.  Specific due dates will be available on the MBC website by March 1st.
