Fitness Assessment Practicum Opportunity

Fitness Assessment Practicum Opportunity

Kinesiology students who need to complete KIN 471: Practicum will be given first preference for this opportunity. Other majors who are seeking academic credit will be considered next, followed by other students who are seeking a volunteer opportunity.

Description

Conduct fitness assessment in a one-on-one setting for 30 students enrolled in KIN 100: Lifetime Fitness and Wellness. Fitness Assessment would be performed at the beginning of the semester and again at the end of the semester. You would be responsible for scheduling the students at a time you/the student agree upon.

The following assessments will be performed, with specific protocol provided:
1-repitition maximum for arm press and leg press
Curl-ups and sit ups
Sit-and-reach
BIA and waist-to-hip ratio

The possibility exists to take on a few clients as a result of the fitness assessment who may be interested in coming in for personal training sessions. You would be responsible for determining interest and scheduling sessions.

Requirements

Completion of KIN 321: Principles of Health Fitness Assessment and KIN 322: Fundamental of Exercise Prescription, and a favorable recommendation from the professor(s) who taught both courses. (Equivalents of these two courses would be required for a non-Kinesiology student.)

Current CPR/AED certification.

Nationally recognized personal training certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA) required by September 3, 2018.
